NP Novel Approach

NP Novel Approach

Many is Different (and better)

Unlike Conventional Antimicrobials which contain just one molecular type with one mechanism of action, Nutri-Pharm products utilise multiple molecular types with multiple mechanisms of antimicrobial action.

Activity against AMR microbial species is specifically selected for in formulating, as is activity against key mechanisms of resistance development.

Nutri-Pharm only selects components of excellent safety, very well known chemistry, pharmacology and stability with established regulatory status and sound commercial availability.

Business as Usual

  • More antibiotics become ineffective
  • Higher medical and micro testing costs
  • Fewer preventative treatment options
  • 2nd/last-line antibiotics under pressure
  • Routine medical care risk

The Future with SPX9

  • Synergies with antibiotics improve their efficacy
  • Lower medical and micro testing costs
  • Simple, inexpensive preventative treatment
  • Many more treatment protocols available
  • Routine medical care made safer, easier, cheaper

Billions of water droplets create what one droplet can't.  Many is different.

Conventional Antibiotics  Versus The SPX9 Pathway

Conventional New Antibiotic SPX Pathway
Components with known Antimicrobial Action One Many
Mechanisms of Action One Several
Components known to Counter Resistance Development None Several
Associated Clinical Laboratory Testing and Costs Significant Less
Development Costs Very extensive costs Much less
Restrictions and Availability Limitations Heavily Restricted OTC
Preventative Use No Yes

Synergies

Many compounds utilised in Nutri-Pharm products have potential antimicrobial synergies when used with conventional antibiotics. Such combined protocols, if demonstrated, would add to the efficacy of conventional antibiotics, and lead to improved AMR treatments. Antibiotics which are currently ineffective or limited in the treatment of AMR infections may have renewed value in such protocols.

Microbial Resistance Inhibition

Nutri-Pharm products are formulated with compounds which specifically impair microbial resistance mechanisms. These include:

Two large blue protein molecules embedded in a tan membrane, with small red and purple molecules nearby.

Efflux Pump Inhibition

Efflux Pump Inhibition.  Microbial efflux pumps are able to clear a large range of compounds, including antibiotics, from Microbe cells.  Several NP researched components are known to block their effect.

Anti-Quorum Sensing Effects

Anti-Quorum Sensing Effects.  Quorum sensing compounds serve a communication function between microbes and regulate properties such as virulence, toxin production and motility.  Multiple components used in NP products are known to reduce quorum sensing in microbial pathogens.

Anti-Biofilm Effects

Anti-Biofilm Effects.  Biofilms are an extracellular matrix of polysaccharides, proteins, nucleic acids and lipids which strongly protect microbes from the external environment, including cleaning agents and antibiotics.  65 to 80% of infections are related to or involve biofilms.  NP researched components have been demonstrated to break down and inactivate Staphylococcus and Acinetobacter biofilms.
